When it comes to building a chain link fence, you need a number of accessory parts—in addition to posts, top rail, and chain link fabric. One of the most essential accessories to have for your fencing project is this steel tension band. Used in combination with tension bars (sold separately), this band not only helps attach chain link fabric between posts; it also stretches fabric into a state of tension, thereby enhancing the security of your fence. The tension provided in part by this band helps keep out intruders and prevents animals and children from easily crawling underneath the fabric.
To attach the 1-5/8" Galvanized Tension Band [14 Gauge ], slide it over and down the terminal post of your chain link fence. (Terminal posts include gate posts, end posts, and corner posts.) Then slide the bolts (sold separately) through the tangs of the band, and tighten them. Space all tension bands apart equidistantly. How do you install tension bars after installing the tension bands? Slip the tension bar vertically through the tension bands and simultaneously through the diamond-shaped weave of the fence fabric.
This 1-5/8” Tension Band is made of rust resistant galvanized steel, contributing to your fence's longevity.
- Galvanized
- For 1-5/8” outside diameter tubing/post
- Carriage nut and bolt not included #11170
How the part fits? A 1-5/8"” tension band is designed to fit around a 1-5/8” terminal post.
Where is it installed? A 1-5/8” tension band is installed by sliding over the 1-5/8” terminal post once the post is set. Tension bands will be evenly placed on each terminal post.
How many do you need? You will need multiple tension bands for every stretch of fence. You will need one less tension band than the height of the fence, with a minimum of 3 tension bands. For example, if you have a 4’ fence you will need (3) 1-5/8” Tension Bands per terminal post. For a full stretch of fence from terminal post to terminal post, you will need double the amount. Ex: For a 4’ stretch of fence you will need (6) total 1-5/8” tension bands.
1-5/8" post size outside diameter, .23lbs.
