Tension bands are essential components for building a chain link fence. Attached to terminal posts (end posts, gate posts, corner posts, etc.), these steel bands are used in combination with tension bars (sold separately) to attach chain link fence fabric. Attach three tension bands to your terminal posts by sliding them down the post after it has been installed. Space the tension bands apart evenly. Secure by sliding a carriage nut or bolt (sold separately) through the tangs of each band and tightening.

The chain link fence tension bar (again, sold separately) is slid vertically through the tension bands and—at the same time—through the ends of the chain link fabric. This not only attaches your chain link fence fabric but also tightens it to make the fence secure. These corrosion-resistant bands may also be used for gate frames. Fashioned from galvanized steel for extra longevity.

  • Galvanized for increased corrosion resistance
  • For 3-1/2” outside diameter tubing
  • Nuts and bolts not included, #11170

How the part fits? A 3-1/2” tension band is designed to fit around a 3-1/2” terminal post.

Where is it installed? A 3-1/2” tension band is installed by sliding over the 3-1/2” terminal post once the post is set. Tension bands will be evenly placed on each terminal post.

How many do you need? You will need multiple tension bands for every stretch of fence. You will need one less tension band than the height of the fence, with a minimum of 3 tension bands. For example, if you have a 4’ fence you will need (3) 3-1/2” Tension Bands per terminal post. For a full stretch of fence from terminal post to terminal post, you will need double the amount. Ex: For a 4’ stretch of fence you will need (6) total 3-1/2” tension bands.

3-1/2" post size outside diameter, .18lbs

A 3-1/2” tension band is installed by sliding it over the 3-1/2” terminal post once the post is set. You will need to space the 3-1/2” tension bands evenly on the terminal post. Then you will slide the 5/16” x 1-1/4” bolt through the tangs and tighten the nut.
