Tension bands are an essential component to have when building chain link fence panels. Used together with tension bars (sold separately), these curved pieces of steel stretch your fence's fabric, providing the rigid state needed to keep out intruders. Without this tension, it becomes very easy to lift the fabric and crawl underneath.

Tension bands are designed to be attached to your fence's terminal posts (end posts, gate posts, corner posts). To do so, slide the bands over and down each post and space apart evenly. Secure in place by sliding a 5/16" x 1-1/4" carriage bolt (sold separately) through each band's tangs and tighten.

With the bands in place, slide a tension bar vertically through the bands as well as through the end "knuckles" of the fence fabric. Together, the bands and bars on both ends imbue your fabric with tension. The bands have been galvanized for enhanced rust resistance, thereby increasing their longevity.

Each pack comes with five 6-5/8" Tension Bands.

Details

How the part fits? A 6-5/8” tension band is designed to fit around a 6-5/8” terminal post.

Where is it installed? A 6-5/8” tension band is installed by sliding over the 6-5/8” terminal post once the post is set. Tension bands will be evenly placed on each terminal post.

How many do you need? You will need 6-5/8” tension bands for every stretch of fence. The amount of tension bands you will need per terminal post is 1 less than the height of the fence. For example, if you have a 4’ fence you will need (3) 6-5/8” Tension Bands per terminal post. There are two exceptions, if you have a 3’ or 3-1/2’ fence, you will need (3) 6-5/8” tension bands. For a full stretch of fence from terminal post to terminal post, you will need double the amount. Ex: For a stretch 4’ fence you will need (6) total 6-5/8” tension bands.
